Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Government Affairs, the Government Affairs Manager will provide support to the overall sales and marketing team, focusing on researching and identifying local, state, and federal government initiatives that provide a vehicle for the company to expand business development where opportunities align. The Government Affairs Manager will support the government affairs team by networking with stakeholders at the local, state (MA, PA, AL, and SC) and federal levels. In this role, the government affairs manager will keep the Vice President of Government Affairs apprised of grant opportunities, contract and subcontract opportunities, relevant legislation, executive orders and any political issues, relationships and policy that may impact the company’s visibility and profitability. Key policy areas of focus include energy, additive manufacturing, sustainability, environment, transportation, and defense.

 

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop supportive materials for use in business development, strategic customer relationships and government stakeholders on the federal, state, and local level.
  • Track legislation and develop white papers/memos as necessary when directly related to impacts or business development opportunities for 6K at the state and federal level.
  • Learn to anticipate and track federal contracting opportunities utilizing SAM and industry announcements and work with the sales and marketing team to conduct outreach to prime contractors in pursuit of teaming arrangements.
  • Research policy issues in key areas including: energy, additive manufacturing, sustainability, environment, transportation, and defense as they relate to business development for 6K.
  • Attend briefings and events related to the key issues and policy areas.
  • Assist the sales and marketing team by developing messaging ad providing research and support for their written deliverables.
  • Conduct outreach and host events for government stakeholders to further the policy and business development goals of the company.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of federal government affairs and/or business development experience.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with key Federal officials and private sector business leaders.
  • Track record of maintaining strong relationships with key government stakeholders at the state and federal levels.
  • 3+ years of synthesizing policy research.
  • Knowledge of legislative and administrative processes of federal and state governments.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and emerging business trends.
