6K is searching for an Electro-Mechanical Designer/Drafter with hands-on experience in an R&D-to-production environment to join its Instrumentation & Controls team. The ability to work independently in complex situations with a demonstrated track record of quickly learning new equipment is expected.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of R&D and Production systems – creating and modifying instrumentation and controls documentation in response to R&D and Production requirements. This will include Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Instrumentation Lists, IO Lists, Electrical Schematics, Cable/Harness Drawings, Wire Run Lists, Controls Narratives, Control Cabinet Drawings, and Spare Parts Lists.
  • Interacting with controls, systems, and process engineers to translate process/equipment requirements into detailed documentation.
  • Creating and modifying electrical schematics and P&IDs in AutoCAD.
  • Creating and modifying 3D models of parts and assemblies and associated 2D production drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Procuring instruments and controls hardware as required.
  • Help shape the future of the controls documentation strategy by recommending and implementing best practices.
  • Ability to travel (up to 15%) to carry out the duties of the position.


Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent training in mechanical/electrical design and computer-aided drawing.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with engineering documentation software (AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel/Word)
  • Three plus (3+) years of experience as an electrical CAD drafter/designer within a production environment is ideal.
  • Familiarity/knowledge of common controls components such as PLCs, IO Cards HMIs, relays, contactors, VFDs, motors, terminal blocks, power supplies, ethernet switches, enclosures, etc.
  • Knowledge of the NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards.
  • Experience laying out industrial control panels, junction boxes, and wire pathways.
  • Experience with single-phase and three phase low voltage AC and DC circuits up to 480V.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with PLM software.
